This paper mainly discussed the boom-type roadheader that widely used in underground coal mine laneway excavation Based on the cutting process analysis, a mathematical model composed by the work parameters and the size section of roadway is established in the paper, the relations between cantilevered corner, the fuel tank trip and cutting head space location is founded. On the basic of these works, a monitoring system that base on C8051F020 that can control the cutting size by mcu is developed ,can precisely control the cantilever swing trip and timely show the location of the cutting head. The functions can be realized are the control of section size and display and alarm monitoring the fault of cutting mechanism and Memory cutting. Next give the memory of the roadheader cutting features a detailed description,make the roadheader on the basis of template cutting . Improve the level of automation of the roadheader.
