With the development of modernization production equipment under some conditions like large size, high speed, high temperature, heavy load and high precision, the wear has become increasingly serious, and then the antifriction is the problem which is urgent to be solved. In the early period of daily life and production, lubrication was adopted to reduce friction and wear. Lubrication is the method to reduce and control friction with lubrication oil, which is generally used in the production. In the recent years, with the rapid development of nano-technology, nano-tribology has become a new field. As a result, improving lubrication oil's lubricating performance by adding nano-additives has entered a new stage.Cylinder-piston ring is the most important friction pairs in the internal combustion engine. The lubrication oil used in the internal combustion engine is known as the internal combustion engine oil or the engine oil. Generally, the internal combustion engine oil includes single-grade oil and multi-grade oil. Single-grade oil is the one that is free from viscosity index improver, while the multi-grade oil is just the opposite. The paper studied the cylinder-piston ring produced by Yunnan internal combustion engine company. Three kinds of internal combustion engine oil which were used in the whole experiment included two kinds of domestic internal combustion engine oil and a foreign one.A nano-lubrication oil additive is a nano-material that can improve a certain performance of the lubrication oil. With fewer dimensions,nano-materials have many special physical and chemical properties. Therefore, nano-lubrication oil additives bring up some reactions between nano-lubrication oil additives and friction surfaces in the process of friction, which can form adsorption films. In addition, the additives can repair the damage of friction surfaces. All of these help to reduce the friction coefficient and wear. The paper discussed detailedly the antifriction mechanism of different nano-lubrication oil additives based on the ferrography analysis, through six chapters. The first chapter is "Introduction". It mainly summarized the ferrography analysis technology and the characteristics and research status of nano-additives, and briefly introduced the content and significance of the research. The second chapter is the theoretical part of the paper, which overviewed relevant theories of mechanical wear, related characteristics of antifriction, classified and lubricated mechanism of nano-additives and the development of wear calculating methods, and proposed wear calculating equation after the addition of nano-additives. The third chapter discusses the experiment with the nano-copper additive. It proposed the antifriction mechanism of copper additive through the ferrography. The fourth chapter is about the experiment with the addition of nano-calcium carbonate. It proposed the antifriction mechanism of nano-calcium carbonate additive through the wear test and ferrography. The fifth chapter analyzed the lubricating properties of three kinds of lubrication oil after the additions of nano-copper additive and nano-calcium carbonate additive. The last chapter is "summary and outlook". It summarized the whole content and pointed out the further research of the nano-lubricating oil additives's wear mechanism.
