The applications of ball mill is very broad, including metallurgy, chemistry, cement, electricity, construction, ceramics, pharmaceutical and defense industries and other sectors, particularly in the metallurgical industry, playing an important role. The quality of grinding mineral has a great impact on beneficiation, improving the grinding efficiency and grinding process is an important technical and economic indicator for a beneficiation factory. Ball mill grinding process materials, mainly within the media and materials by ball interaction and exercise to achieve, energy and media consumption is mainly the result of media campaigns. Therefore, for improving the grinding efficiency, reduce energy consumption and the wear of medium, the study of the kinematic regularity of mediums and the relationship between mediums and materials are very significant.The paper illustrates the theory of the kinematic regularity of mediums in ball mill and the knowledge of analysis about grinding minerals. Systemed introduced two-dimensional discrete element method and three-dimensional discrete element method, and summarizes the commonly used commands of three-dimensional particle flow code PFC3D.According to the need of issue, design and produce a physical prototype about ball mill for an experiment (D×L=600×400),design the whole experimental system and have an experiment research. Based on the discrete element method, have simulation analysis about the physical prototype of ball mill and the mediums using PFC3D.With different sizes of mediums in the same ratio of numbers,the paper has a simulation about grinding mediums campaigns.Analyze the impacts about medium charge fraction and the ratio of the rotate speed to the medium campaigns, and find the best medium charge fraction to match the ratio of the rotate speed. With a certain medium charge fraction and the ratio of the rotate speed,disscusing the their relationship when mediums have falling movement,by simulation analyzing single-diameter campaign.Analyze the major affecting factors of kinematic regularity of mediums in ball mill, While that from the perspective of energy, with the medium diameter increasing, the media contact force reduced and friction energy increased.With the same medium charge fraction and the ratio of the rotate speed, experimental research about different particle sizes and mediums sizes is done,using the narrow level minerals.Analyzing the their relationship, have the best and the most unreasonable grinding medium size.Discussed the interactional connection between grinding mediums and minerals,analyzed the the type of grinding minerals with the connection, and explained the experimental data. With the decreasing of mineral grain feeding, medium size should be reduced accordingly.
