1,2-bis-(o-aminophenoxy) ethane is an important intermediate in medicine, pesticides, dyes and pigment prodction;it has mainly been used as diazo component for C.I.Pigment Yellow 180 and the precursor for BAPTA which could be used as calcium sensors;besides it could be also be used to make direct dyes, reactive dyes,and fungicides. Currently, the main method for obtaining 1,2-bis-(o-aminophenoxy) is reduction method, including metal reduction and the hydrazine reduction method. However these methods not only has drawbacks such as low efficiency and productivity,they have also cause severely pollution. Thus the improvement in the systhesis method of 1,2-bis-(o-aminophenoxy)ethane has significant meaning.This paper has proposed a Hydrogenation reduction technique for 1,2-bis(o-aminop-henoxy)ethane synthesis which involve using Pd/C as catalyst.Hydrogenation reduction is characterized by simple, high in purity and low in price; it could reduce pollution significa-ntly,mitigate the labor stress for workers and improve the operating environment.This paper use ethanol as reaction medium, Pd/C as catalyst conduct the research ofproducing 1,2-bis (o-aminophenoxy)ethane by Hydrogenation reduction method. Through one series of experi-ments the best condition has been determined as:lgof 1,2-bis(nitrophenoxy)ethane,0.03g of catalyst 0.4% palladium-carbon, reaction temperature of 70℃and pressure of 0.4Mpa, 35ml of ethanol.Under these optimum technical conditions, purity of the product can exceed 99.60% and the yield can comeup to90%.The reason that the vigor of catalyst was descended was studied,which reveals that vigor of catalyst despended on the size of active carbon.This paper provide reference for scaled industrialized experiment and has significant meaning.
