CuCrZr alloy with its combination of high thermal conductivity, high conducts electricity and relatively high mechanical strength and toughness over a wide range of temperatures, can apply to a wide range of industrial areas. In mainland China, as socioeconomic increases briskly, the demand of CuCrZr alloy has increaced dramatically. The preparation processes of CuCrZr alloy is stabile and efficient in advance countries, but this is comparatively backwardness in China. One of the most important problem is to find a high efficient casting process.CuCrZr alloy has a wide crystallization zone, it is about 110℃. H2 and O2 is very likely to solute in the CuCrZr alloy. when it is a melted liquid, here is 51.7 cm3 gases per kilogr-amme in the liquid alloy. Cr and Zr have very high melting points, which are 1902℃and 1852℃. The dencities of Cr and Zr are 7280Kg/m3 and 6510Kg/m3 at 20℃. The chemical properties of element Zr is very active, so it is very easy to be oxygenated.In this paper, CuCrZr alloy ingots are prepared. It has a satisfied chemical composition. X-ray fluorescence spectrometric and direct reading spectrograph analysis results illustrated that, during the casting process, the chemical compositions of the ingot sections are homogenously. Alloying elements Cr and Zr yielded stable and can be acceped.By metallographic analysis, EPMA,, the casting defects are definited. The inner defects are hot tearing and voids, while the surface defacts are cold shut and slag. With rael phisical experiments and numerical simulations, the affects of casting parameters to the ingot are clear. Changing the casting parameters, can control the quality of ingots.In this paper the DC Casting parameters ofΦ220 mm were definited and produced the CuCrZr alloy ingots without any defects.
