As one of the pillar industries of industrial automation, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) plays an increasingly important role in industrial production field due to its good performance, high reliability and facility for development and maintenance. With the increasing popularization of International Standard IEC61131-3 and the development of micro-electronics and computer technology, soft PLC technology combined with embedded system has become the new direction for PLC development with the inevitable outcome-Embedded soft PLC. CASS is the pioneering research based on embedded technology and PLC system.Based on CASS technology, the paper dealed with the current problems that the winding machine industry is encountering with. It's a challenge that the diameter of the winding coil is more than 0.8 millimeter and the layers of coil is too many, and the edge of the coil is easy to overlap and jump lines ,so proposed non-linear winding algorithm, which was realized by PLC built-in CNC instructions. Comparing with the general winding algorithm, to some extent, it's an innovation. The main work and research results of this paper can be summarized as follows:(1)Analyzed the numerical control technology, winding machine development status and the current problems simply in order to prepare well for the further study of this paper.(2)Different from the traditional algorithms which adopts engine control and PLC industrial control so as to wind coils, proposed PLC built-in CNC instructions in order to achieve the winding function of the coil winding machine.(3)To make the non-linear algorithm come true, designed the CNC winding instructions, including the design of the low-level instructions and instructions scheduling, the design and implementation of the function of ladder instructions, and the design and parse, compile and download of CNC winding instructions and the directive management.(4)According to the non-linear algorithm, build the real test platform which is adopted to test the non-linear algorithm. The results show that it's possible that the non-linear algorithm is applied to the coil winding machine. Moreover the algorithm has a good effect and flexible design, meanwhile, the control system is reliable. The whole non-linear algorithm is innovative and practical.
