With developing the project"Laser Coating of Multi Layer Hydroxyapatite on Titanium Alloy", founded by Science and Technology Agency of Zhejiang Province, this paper studies the method, technology and theory of laser coating of multi layer hydroxyapatite on titanium alloy. We have made many experiments to coat hydroxyapatite on titanium alloy by laser and to proved the laser coating of multi layer hydroxyapatite to be good in performance.The main contents in this paper are as follows:Chapter 1 is overall introduction. Firstly, the development background and the current research situation home and abroad were introduced. Then, the necessity of research on laser coating of multi layer hydroxyapatite on titanium alloy design was analyzed. Finally, the goals and main content of research were introduced. The second chapter mainly introduces several methods of coat hydroxyapatite on titanium alloy. We analyze the advantages and disadvantages of those methods and research which one is good for our task.Laser surface engineering is used for coating hydroxyapatite on titanium alloy. In this chapter we introduce characteristics, applications and the advantages to traditional means of the laser surface engineering.Basing on the research of regular laser surface engineering, the factors how we can make multi layer are analyzed. According to the characters of that laser can directly work on pure titanium through hydroxyapatite, the mixed powder of hydroxyapatite and pure titanium in a scale was put on titanium alloy. Then we made the experiment using a special instrument.The analyzing experiments are shown in chapter 5. In this chapter, SEM micrographs, XRD patterns, energy spectrum, hardness test of the surface and biological performance testing are described.Chapter 6 reviews the achievements and innovations of this dissertation, and gives a prospect for research work.
