Carbon fiber composites have been widely used in the field of structural materials for its high specific strength, high specific modulus, etc. But application areas of the carbon fiber composites are limited by its almost entire reflection of radar. After being modified, carbon fiber composites have the properties of both load carrying and radar absorbing and it become one important field of structural absorbing materials.In this paper the carbon fibers with magnetic coating as structural absorption material are proposed and the double orthogonal directions electromagnetic parameters in X and P band are measured through transmission/reflection method. Based on transfer matrix concepts and the pure carbon fibers' studies, a new method to calculate reflection characteristics is given. According to the method, a series of MATLAB codes are programmed to get the reflection characteristics on different frequencies,directions and with different layers. The calculated results of reflective properties are compared with carbon fiber composites, which shows that the properties of the magnetic coating carbon fiber composites are superior to that of pure carbon fiber composites and the reflection attenuation can be improved.
