The more and more severe radiation environment requires a stronger protection of the electronic devices. Among many solutions, it's ideal to substitute the radiation shielding materials for ordinary shell of the electronic devices. In recent years, new anti-radiation shielding materials have gained better development. Especially, metal matrix composite shielding material, a new kind of shielding materials with high mechanical performance and high shielding effectiveness, has received considerable attention. However, due to the diversity and specific characteristics of the shielding materials'use environment, corrosion resistance of materials receives increasing concerns, but related researches are still sparse at home and abroad. In this paper, adopting the new WCp/2024Al aluminum composite shielding materials processing technology, we have carried out the research on corrosion resistance of materials to better guarantee the efficient application of the above mentioned materials. WCp/2024Al composites, which could be used as radiation shielding materials, was fabricated by Vacuum hot-pressing process in this study. The corrosion resistance of WCp/2024Al MMCs was studied by salt spray accelerated corrosion tests. We studied the dominant factor which affects the corrosion behaviors of the WCp/2024Al MMCs. The principle of micro-galvanic corrosion of the WCp/2024Al MMCs was discussed. Mechanical properties of the composites were studied and after that the fracture fractographs were characterized by SEM.
