Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is a proven advanced manufacturing technology of the Rapid Prototyping (RP) methods. It includes computer control, CAD/CAM, precision servo drive, laser technique and new material technology. Now it attracts extensive attention because of the abundant raw materials, high manufacturing flexibility and no supporting during the process. But the high price of the raw materials and no-recycling restrict its developing and popularizing.Based on having reviewed the development status and trend, this paper proposed a kind of cheap wood-plastic composite (WPC) as the raw material of SLS, which is green environmental protection, degradable and recyclable. This paper did the material design for SLS and obtained a new formula of WPC which could be used in SLS, through orthogonal experimental design; it analyzed the effect of the alkalization of the wood flour, thinnervisbreaker and the other additives. Also it discussed the powder sintering mechanism. By molding experiment, strength test and microscopic observation with SEM, this paper studied the impact of different technological parameters on the sintering processing and the molding properties, including preheating temperature, laser power, scanning speed and interval and thickness of stratum. It got a set of optimized parameters, which can be used in SLS for WPC.At last, because of the large porosity and the low strength, this paper studied the post processing. It selected the wax as the material of the post processing. Also it analyzed the mechanism of the wax infiltrated of the WPC, designed the suitable technological process, and analyzed its impact on the part precision. By the testing of the parts before and after post processing, it got that the post processing could improve the mechanical properties and surface quality greatly.
