The rational design of organic-metal coordination architectures with desired functions are one of the most active fields in current coordination chemistry. The theoretical forecasting of complexes structures and functions is still difficult because they may be affected by lots of factors. Therefore, it is still necessary to systematically study the synthesis and structures of complexes by carefully design and selection of suitable ligands and the relationships between the ligands natures and complex structures. In this dissertation, the triazolo [3,4-b]1,3,4-thiadiazole-containing, imidazole-containing, and tetrazole-containing ligands were designed and synthesized or selected to react with some transition metal ions, thus, eight metal complexes with 0D, 1D, 2D or 3D structures have been obtained and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and X-ray crystallography. Furthermore, luminescent properties of some complexes have been studied.The major accomplishments of this dissertation:1 A brief review of the progress of related researches and the introduction of the background of this research.2 Six ligands 4-phenyl-7-aryl-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazole(L1L4) and 4-(3′-pyridyl)-7-aryl-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazole(L5L6) were synthesized and confirmed by elemental analysis and IR spectra. Five complexes have been prepared, and the structures of them were determined by X-ray analyses. The effects of some factors such as metal ion, ligand structures and counter anions on the compositions and structures of such complexes have been discussed, the luminescent properties of these ligands and some complexes were also investigated.3 A new ligand 3,6-bis(1-imidazolo) pyridazine (L7) was synthesized, and a complex has been prepared by reaction Cd(II) with L7. The structure was determined by X-ray analyses.4 1,5-bis(5-tetrazolo)-3-oxapentane(H2L8) and 1,3-bis(5-tetrazolo)propane(H2L9) were synthesized, and two complexes have been prepared by reaction Cd(II) with H2L8 and Zn(II) with H2L9. The structures were determined by X-ray analyses, the luminescent properties of H2L8 and its complex was also investigated.
