Automobile exhaust composition contains many greenhouse gases, and it is the main source of toxic gases such as hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM). The main ingredient of PM is carbon, but because it has adsorbed soluble organic, heavy metal and various carcinogenic substances, so it is hazard to the human health when it goes into the human body. This paper is mainly engaged in the catalytic conversion research of PM which is contained in the diesel exhaust. At present the best catalytic activity of exhaust is platinum, rhodium, palladium, etc noble metal catalysts. But, the noble metals are expensive. Therefore, the research of non-noble metal oxide with high catalytic activity which can take the place of the precious metal becomes significant. In this paper the preparation of LaMnO3 catalyst with nanometer level and perovskite structure was investigated, we also investigate the catalytic activity when the low-cost state elements take the place of La and character the catalyst through XRD, SEM and BET. The catalytic activity of catalyst was tested by the temperature program oxidation (TPO) method. And results show that this structure of catalyst has excellent catalytic to the PM oxidation, and the dopped elements can enhance the catalytic activity. This preparation of samples can reduce the PM's light-off temperature around 150℃.
