Nowadays the whole world pays much attention to the environment protection, so reactive dyes containing fluoro-triazine have become the target of reactive dyes research, due to their good fixation, high washing fastness and alkali-stability. The amount of dyes in dyeing residual liquid is much lower at the same time, which consists with the general principle of energy conservation. Simultaneously reactive yellow dyes are quite important in reactive dyes industry as one of three primary colors. In this paper, the structures of three new reactive dyes containing fluoro-triazine, Cibacron Yellow FN-2R, Cibacron Yellow C-RG and Levafix Yellow CA, were analysized by electrospray mass spectrometry and HPLC-MS. Through these methods, the reactive groups and chromophore could be confirmed, which showed that all the three dyes were a mixed reactive groups dyes containing fluoro-triazine. Their chromophore was based on 2-aminonaphthalene-1,3,6-trisulfonic acid as the diazo components and m-urido-aniline as the azo components.Besides, the mass of by-products was acquired via HPLC-MS. Through orthogonal experiments, the optimum conditions were obtained for the three dyes, which led to inhibiting side-reaction and improving the contant of the main products effectively. Finally, the UV-visible absorption spectra, dyeing character parameters and wet fastness of the three dyes have been evaluated comparing with reactive yellow dye C.I.176. The relationship between the dye molecular structures and their dyeing properties were investigated. It showed that the effect of different substituents on chromophore could be predicted by micro-perturbation MO theory. And the reactivity of fluoro-triazinyl reactive dye was much higher than corresponding chloro-triazinyl reactive dye, owing to the strong withdrawing electron effect and easily leaving of fluorine atom. This also caused the fixation of reactive dyes containing fluoro-triazine being much better than it of reactive dyes containing chloro-triazine. In addition, different substituents on triazinyl ring could affect the planar and linear structure of molecules, thus causing changes about the performance parameters of dyes.
