RMPCT (Robust Multivariable Predictive Control Technology) is applied in the FCCU (Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit) of a refinery factory in one petrochemical company to satisfy its control demand. Taking it as an example, this paper focuses on the study and practice of the MPC and its application.This paper briefly introduces the development and its application of MPC (Model Predictive Control), takes DMC (Dynamic Matrix Control) as an example and expounds the basic principles, algorithm and the methods of getting controlling parameter. On the basis of that, it introduces the application of RMPCT in FCCU in detail through the study of the basic structure, relevant functions and the key technologies of RMPCT software package taking the technological process, controlling demands and strategies of FCCU into consideration. This paper also describes and analyzes the controller designing, variable choosing and the engineering implementation procedure in the application process of RMPCT. At last, it proves that the application of RMPCT helps to improve the manipulating stability and the economic profits of FCCU through the comparison and the analysis of the actual application effect.
