Chiral carboxylic acids are the structural unit of many natural substances, biological molecules and drug molecules, in view of the importance of chiral acids in biochemistry and chemistry of life, people have been exploring new simple and effective chiral solvents to determine the enantiomeric compositions and absolute configurations of chiral molecules.Chiral amino alcohol polydentate ligand was derived from 5,N,N-trimethyl-2-amino benzalde-hyde and chiral amino alcohol by condensation and reduction. Thus the former was obtained by methylation and formylation of p-methyl aniline; the latter was prepared by esterification and Grignard reaction of L-leucine. The products were characterized by IR,1HNMR and MS technigues. The chiral amino. alcohol and the chiral amino alcohol polydentate ligand were evaluated as chiral solvating agent for chiral carboxylic acid such as ibuprofen and mandelic acid. In the presence of an equimolar amount of guest and host, the chemical shift non-equivalences (△△δ) of the methyl proton of (CH3)CHCOOH in racemic ibuprofen andα-H in racemic mandelic acid are 11.2 and 9.2 Hz, respectively. The result have shown good chiral recognition ability and achieved the desired experimental results. In addition, chiral amines with magnetic anisotropy multiple groups and variety chiral factors were designed and synthesized from pure (S)-a-phenylethylamine, new aromatic group, ferrocene planar chirality and asymmetric chiral center of carbon, and ultimately succeeded to determine the enantiomeric compositions and absolute configurations of chiral carboxylic acids as chiral solvents. However, because of time reasons, two kind of chiral amines were just made, further exploration was needed to determine the enantiomeric compositions and absolute configurations of chiral carboxylic acids as chiral solvents.
