| In the lost foam casting, coatings play a key role, Therefore, EPC preparation and performance is very important. In this paper, EPC coatings for aluminum and steel castings were developed. details are as follows: bauxite and zircon powder (talcum powder and diatomite)are used for the refractory aggregate , the EPC coating were prepared and the properties of coating were detected. Through single factor experiments study the impact of binder and suspending agent on the coating properties, Finally through orthogonal test, determine optimization of coating on the distribution ratio, at the end of the performance indicators will be prepared by the disappearance of a good model cast steel (aluminum)coating.The results as follows:(1) using bauxite(70%) and zircon powder(30%) to make steel paint of lost foam cast has good performance. When sodium bentonite is in the content of 3% ,CMC is in the content of 0.7% ,silica is in the content of about 4%.The coating has a relatively best strength ,viscosity and suspension. Compared the coating that developed with coating imported from the United States Ashland ,it is cheaper, performance is excellent, and suitable for EPC coating.(2) using talc(70%) and diatomite(30%) to make aluminum paint of lost foam cast has good performance. When sodium bentonite is in the content of 6% ,CMC is in the content of 3%,PAM is in the content of 0.5%, silica is in the content of about 9%,the paint has the best strength ,viscosity and suspension.(3) In this paper, the effect of addition sequence and mixing time on the characters of the coating was studied, and draw the best preparation process. The results showed that: Different addition sequence has greater effect on the suspension, attached to the volume, strength and viscosity, has little effect on the permeability. Preparation of paint should choose the best addition sequence.(4) In the experiment, the coating has a good coat, and not easy to drop mobility, there are not cast paraganglioma such as visco-sand.
