Whisker is one kind of needle crystal presenting in crystalline form, as having relatively small diameter, it avoids the defects occurring on large crystals. And its atom arranged in highly order, making the strength of whisker very close to theoretical values of complete crystal.In order to reduce the costs or improve the performance, now many plastic, rubber, and other chemical products use the method of filling inorganic materials. Among them the inorganic or organic fibre have the effect of enhancing the strengths of materials. Common inorganic fillers includes silica, calcium carbonate powder, calcium sulfate powder and so on. Enhance fiber mainly includes glass fiber, calcium sulfate fiber, carbon fiber, polyester fiber etc. Calcium sulfate whisker have advantages of both enhancements and fillings, the comprehensive performance is excellent when applied to products.In this thesis the the influencing facts of adding calcium sulfate to whisker and the applications of calcium sulfate whisker fills were introduced. Experiments were carried out with twin screw extruder chosen as the reactor to preparation the plastic modified material. Because calcium sulfate whisker is tiny, it is easily broken in the machining process. Only when whisker keep certain length-diameter ratio can it show the obvious enhancement effect.This paper mainly targets on researching the influence on integrity of calcium sulfate whisker by different surface treatment methods and processing technology. the percentage of calcium sulfate whisker influences performance of polypropylene, it can improved formula and craft, get the best the method and application scope. in addition, Calcium sulfate whisker added polypropylene compar to other filler added polypropylene, find advantages and disadvantages.
