On the basis of widely surveying related scientific achievements, the theory and technology of storm runoff management and the function of green land system are discussed in details. The stormwater runoff reduction of green land system is studied experimentally indoor and outdoor. The management measures of urban rainwater utilization are discussed. The outcome supplies a reference on the construction of urban green space and ecotypic drainage system. The main outcomes are:1. The evolution and characteristic of storm runoff management in developed countries and inland are summarized. The existing problems and development tendency of storm runoff management especially the green land system is analyzed comprehensive.2. The reduction and reservoir action of urban green land system on the storm runoff is demonstrated. The results show that the runoff reduction rate of green land system is about 42.91~72.72% by the experiments of fields and soil columns.3. The vegetation coverage is an important factor to reducing storm runoff. When the vegetation coverage is about 30%, the reduction rate is about 46.82~59.84%. When the vegetation coverage is 60%, the reduction rate is about 55.74~65.45%. When the vegetation coverage is 90%, the reduction rate is about 64.74~72.74%.4. The type of vegetation is important to the storm runoff reduction. For the same vegetation coverage, the reduction of different vegetation types on storm runoff is different. When the vegetation coverage is 90%, the order of reduction on the storm runoff from large to small is in the order of Festuca arundinacea and Poa annua, Festuca arundinacea and Buchloe dactyloides. When the vegetation coverage is 60%, the order of reduction on storm runoff from large to small is in the order of Festuca arundinacea and Poa annua , Festuca arundinacea and Festuca arundinacea and Poa annua. When the vegetation coverage is 30%, the order of reduction on storm runoff from large to small is in the order of Festuca arundinacea, Buchloe dactyloides and Festuca arundinacea and Poa annua. In summary, the order of reduction on storm runoff from large to small is in the order of Festuca arundinacea, Buchloe dactyloides, Festuca arundinacea and Poa annua.5. The relationship between the vegetation coverage and the runoff turbidity is studied. The higher vegetation coverage is, the lower runoff turbidity is. When the vegetation coverage is 90%, the runoff turbidity is about 14.27~72.14NTU. When the vegetation coverage is 60%, the runoff turbidity is about 39~91.85NTU. When the vegetation coverage is 30%, the runoff turbidity is about 113.8~128.24NTU.
