At present, the main industrial technologies for producing propylene oxide(PO) are the processes of chlorohydrination and cooxidation. Propylene and chlorine are used as raw materials to produce chlorine propanol by hypochlorite oxidation, and then epoxy propane by saponification system in chlorohydrination process. The main byproduct is 1,2-dichloride propane (DCP).Aiming at Befar group propylene oxide production equipment, a detailed analysis of the existing problems of Befar group was made in order to improve the dichloride propane purity,. Through a lot of experiments, an optimum processing route of refining dichloride propane was set up. The method of using water washing to separate the containing impurities such as propylene chlorohydrin from dichloride propane was carried out. The method not only improve the quality of dichloride propane, but also reduce the consumption of propylene chlorohydrins. This processing equipment has advantages of simplicity and easy operation etc. The smell of dichloride propane and color was obviously improved after refining. In addition, the water containing propylene chlorohydrin after washing was reused. This increased the utilization of propylene chlorohydrin and reduce the raw material consumption and increase the device of economic benefit. The process design and operation is not only beneficial to the improvement of the methylene chloride propane quality, and also provides a useful technology to epoxy propane industry to reduce raw material cost.
