Pipeline safety monitoring technologies have great importance on protecting the normal operation of pipelines. The pipeline vibration monitoring pre-warning technology based on acoustic wave is a useful pipeline monitoring technology which installs high-sensitivity sensors on the pipelines to detect threatening events.The present acoustic pre-warning system has some disadvantages, such as inconvenient maintenance, limited communication conditions, high false alarm rate of threatening event and so on. Consequently, the paper makes optimization for the system on hardware, software and data processing. The main content is as follows.(1) The research on pipeline acoustic monitoring pre-warning technology has been studied by reviewing the related literatures and papers. The design scheme of the system is proposed and the hardware has been selected.(2) The online recognition algorithm of pipeline third party threatening events is proposed. By analyzing the characteristics of acoustic wave data acquired in the field and solving the problem of too easy algorithm of traditional system, the three-level recognition algorithm of threatening event has been worked out including energy threshold method, time threshold method and the interval threshold method of alarms.(3) The monitoring center software is developed. According to the requirements of monitoring center, the demand of the software is proposed. After the overall design and detailed design, the frame of the software is determined, then the software is developed with the C# language.(4) The field test has been carried out so as to verify the software. After the development of the monitoring center software, the state recognition algorithm and online location algorithm should be verified. The test in some oil field proves that the technology is effective and feasible.
