In this thesis, self-assemble reaction of five isomeric flexible unsymmetrical bis(pyridyl) amines, zinc salts, and different dicarboxylic acids, i.e. fumaric acid, isophthalic acid and terephthalic acid, leads to the formation of 22 mixed-ligands complexes, which present diverse 1D, 2D, and 3D interpenetrating networks.Meanwhile, these complexes are characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV, TG, PL,powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Structure analyses indicate that the trans-conformational bis(pyridyl) amines, intricate coordination modes of dicarboxylates, as well as higher coordination numbers of Zn(II) cations tend to generate high dimensional complexes. The combination of linear rigid terephthalic acid and 3,3’-L gives rise to the formation of complexes with diverse interpenetrating networks. Meanwhile, the three complexes with 4-fold interpenetrating dia topology can interconvert into each other via single-crystal-to-single-crystal(SCTSC)transformation processes based on guest exchange, which is unusual in interpenetrating complexes. Moreover, these complexes present excellent luminescent properties at room temperature.
