Vacuum distillation technics have been widely applied to the separation process of alloys with the advantages of simplified flow sheet, good environmental protection and high metal recovery, etc. The present vacuum distillation theories of alloy only can judge the separation degree of alloys approximately. These theories didn’t analyze and calculate the process of vacuum distillation from the point of vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE). Therefore, the VLE diagrams of alloy systems in full composition range have not been reported before this study. The VLE diagrams of alloy systems can provide an intuitive and convenient way in the analysis of distillation. It can not only predict the compositions of distillation products in equilibrium but also the experiment condition (temperature and pressure). This has a significant advantage to guide for the experiment and industrial production in vacuum metallurgy.Based on the VLE theories, a comprehensive analyses for the VLE of alloy systems in vacuum distillation are carried out in this study and the measuring methods of VLE data by experiment are also raised. Finally, the calculation methods of VLE for alloys in vacuum are derived. On the basis of theories and experiments of separating lead based alloy by vacuum distillation, the VLE data of eight kinds of lead based binary alloy (Pb-Sn, Pb-Ag etc.) and Ag-Cu-Pb ternary alloy are calculated by VLE equation of state associated with Wilson equation. And the VLE phase diagrams of the each system are given out. The comparison results between calculations and experimental values indicates that the VLE diagrams of lead based alloys calculated by this method are reliable within reasonable error range.
