The machining accuracy is the most basic indicators to measure machine tools’ performance. Remanufacturing of old machine tools is the best form of resources recycled,and it not only reduce environmental pollution to achieve maximum utilization of resources,but also can effectively recover and improve the machining accuracy and productivity of the machine tools. Over the past few decades, NC technology is the primary means of remanufactured old machine tools, and the geometric accuracy wasn’t paid enough attention.The analysis and research of the remanufacture-ability of old machine tools’ precision can achieve a multiplier effect, which not only can solve precision control problem in the remanufacturing process, but also effectively reduce the cost of remanufacturing, thus it is of great significance in engineering applications.Based on the relationship between total geometric accuracy of accuracy parameters of remanufactured parts and remanufactured machine tools, the design approach of geometric accuracy of remanufactured machine tools was analyzed and listed systematically.It lays the emphases on the researches of the geometric accuracy modeling of horizontal lathes, the relationship between the amount of wear and geometric error, factors of error sensitivity,repair technology of key parts and so on.The article uses multi-body system theory to analyze of the remanufacture of old machine tools’ precision. Considering the components of the machine tool geometry error and using the characteristic matrixes represent the general relation position and gesture between moving components to establish the common horizontal lathe accuracy model and give the specific mathematical expression.Establishing a relationship between the amount of wear of parts and components geometric error based on the structural relationship between the various components of the machine in order to reveal the law that errors transmitted from the amount of wear of machine parts and components to the whole machine processing error. In order to analyze the key factors affecting the machine geometry errors, we use the way of higher order infinitesimal approximation to be zero to establish the sensitivity analysis model of the amount of wear parameter of the components simply and effectively. Thus effective theoretical basis isprovided for the remanufacture of old machine tools’ precision.Finally, On the basis of theoretical research, the article analyzes an example of CA6140.Sensitivity analysis of the amount of geometric error and wear parameter of the components show that the main factor of the overall accuracy is the amount of wear of spindle and rail. A detailed study of the remanufacturing methods and processes of the main components analyze plastic coated rails and the remanufactured spindles’ characteristics. And analysis of horizontal lathe CA6140 show that the established error model and error sensitivity analysis is feasible. which provide evidence for the remanufacturing program development.
