| Temple garden is a very particular type in the system of Chinese classic gardens, especially the mountain-forest-style Buddhism temple garden which synthesizes the cultural connotation of Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism, and deals in the real mountain and water. As known, Henan province is the place that bred Buddhism and temples. Thus mountain-forest-style Buddhism temple gardens, of different scales and various forms, differing in landscaping managing skills, are widely distributed in Henan. Starting from the space distribution and the space attribute of construction-site, this thesis classifies temple garden into two major categories—independent temple garden and combined temple garden and then makes a sample pots selection, mapping and investigation for them, probing into the managing skills of the mountain-forest-style Buddhism temple gardens in Henan, from the refinedly selecting of a site,the forming of conception, the layout of location, the tidying of all the minor details, and abstracting out the gardening characteristics of the two major temple gardens.In the aspect of site selection, combined mountain-forest-style temple garden, by analyzing culture traits and the natural geographical features, extracts the matchless queer and steep properties of landforms, as well as the characters possessed by the selected sites—with fantastic geomantic omen, being surrounded by all the ordinaries, far away from the world by the water, bizarre, steep and located in the suburb away from the urban. In the aspect of conception, according to the building of the whole artistic conception, combined mountain-forest-style temple garden summarizes the conception characteristic of adapting to the mountain terrains and conveying some Buddhism meaning. In the layout, it studies the general space distribution of the temple garden, the plan layout of the temple architectures and sequential space organization, summing up the distribution characteristic of sizing and how to fuse with the scenery. In the aspect of dealing with the minors, it deliberates the managing skills of the space guiding and the managing skills of the landscape at the beginning and at the end of the temple garden. By contrasting the æ²³å—山林å¼ä½›æ•™å¯ºåº™å›æž—ç ”ç©¶space of courtyards and enlarging the image of the main architectures, the religion space creates a solemn and serene religion atmosphere. The landscape sequence and space atmosphere of the religion space in the temple are much enriched by planting flowers and trees in the blank space. The transition space analyses the function of the space restriction and space fusion while natural environment space studies the features it owns when it serves as background, master scenery or borrowed scenery.at mountain-forest- style temple garden, according to the features of the scale, culture and natural terrain, draws out the characteristic of the landform—simplicity and peacefulness, while the characteristic of the site selection is "near the mountain and by the river", "wide vision field" and "near the urban". On the interest, it proposes the interest characteristics in a macroscopic view that the world and its deep philosophy are seen though it. In the respect of layout and dealing with the minors, independent and combined mountain-forest-style temple gardens share a lot in common. Thus simple investigation and analysis have been done to summarize the general characteristic of how they ascertain the contents and sort out the sceneries. |
