With the development of social economy and the acceleration of urbanization,the urban road traffic network has developed rapidly,which is great convenience for people's transportation,but also leads to the rapid increase of traffic demand.The direct consequence are rapid expansion of traffic flow,urban traffic congestion,the increasingly serious traffic jam, frequent accidents.The worsening traffic environment has become a global problem.As a very important means to solve the problem of global transportation,intelligent transportation system (ITS)has won great recognition with real-time,efficient,accurate analysis,processing and control ability,and has obtained the development by leaps and bounds.As an important part of intelligent transportation system,traffic information detection technology has the abilities of real-time data acquisition,analysis,processing,and release wide road network traffic data information,has gradually become important fields of daily traffic management activities and engaged in research work for traffic management department.Data information collected by traffic detection techniques is not only effectively help traffic management and law enforcement,but also to provide basis data for future traffic planning.The introduction of laser technology,will be vital role of the development of traffic detection techniques.This paper combined traffic detection technology and data processing technology of ITS together by comprehensively uesing communication engineering and information engineering theory,and then put forward and designed a traffic information acquisition platform based on laser scanning data which can detect multiple objects and provide a lot of traffic information data parameter.This platform has functional modules of running speed detection,traffic detection and vehicle recognition meanwhile,and can process detected data,and can set up the data base,realize the function of diversifying data acquisition and processing.
