This paper investigates bow water jet, a new type of energy-saving propulsion system. The device is deployed in bow, suck the water in front of the boat and then eject high-speed flow from the right and left sides of the outfall to the boat flat on both sides of the rear exhaust and form a wall of water. Bow water jet suck the water by inlet pipe and then give high-speed boats to provide forward momentum by venting the water. At the same time, wall of water formed by high-speed flow make the frontage water into rear lateral flow, which could reduce the number of water ejected by ship and can reduce the bow resistance directly, while reducing the formation of waves, thereby reducing the wave resistance. This realization will help to save energy, improve ship navigation performance and also is a safely environmentally friendly new energy-saving technologies.This article through numerical simulation method of the commercial CFD software FLUENT study the jet pipe parameters on the impact resistance of the hull.FLUENT and theoretical methods were used to calculate the friction coefficient of the two-dimensional bare hull. The two calculations have some errors, but they are in good agreement when the jet flow velocity is large. Two-dimensional models of cutwater thrusters are established to calculate the length of the different jet tubes, the distance between the jet pipe and the hull and the resistance distributing of the different velocity of flow, then analyze the transformation rule between overall resistance and the length of jet tubes, the distance between the jet pipe and the hull and the velocity of flow, then obtain the distribution of the flow field around the hull. Based on the results to select the length of jet tube, the distance between the jet pipe and the hull and rotate speed. The resistance of three-dimensional bare hull with the bow water jet are calculated by a large eddy simulation method. Analyzing calculation result educe transformation curve of total resistance, friction and pressure forces with the parameters and rotate speed change, then contrasting to the resistance of bare hull get the result that this device can reduce the hull resistance largely. Compare the pump power and reducing energy by reducing resistance when choosing jet pipe parameters with good drag-reducing properties to analyze the effect of reducing energy of the device.
