With the developing of the economic society, people's demand also growing more and more for energy. Because of the characteristic of non-renewable, the ordinary petrifaction energy sources will be gradually exhausting. In addition, large number of fossil energy consumption leading to excessive carbon dioxide emissions is considered to be an important reason for global warming. So many countries have begun to attach importance to the development and utilization of renewable energy. In the renewable energy, the tidal current energy shows a promising future in development and value for the advantages of higher energy density, higher predictability., higher load stability and higher rich reserves.According to the unique characteristics of tidal current energy generation and combined with the more mature wind power technology, the research on developing of high efficiency and high reliability control system, which is suitable for the energy conversion of tidal current generation, is becoming an important component of developing tidal current energy.This paper firstly introduces the purpose, background and significance. Then the development and the main control technology of tidal current power generation in the world are reviewed. It also addresses the principles and the basic traditonal structure which contains turbine, permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), diode Rectifier Bridge, Buck converter, valve-regulated lead-acid battery storage battery, inverter and controller and so on.Subsequently, the design processes of the control system are discussed. It introduces the work principle and basic composition of tidal current power generation system, as well as the detection and control technology, which are all applied to the system. It also main addresses the control principles in automatic variable pitch, energy consumption load and alternation of storage cell's charging and discharging, all of which would be provided with hardware circuit designing and software programming. According to the characteristics of permanent magnet synchronous generator, we adopt the corresponding control and protection measures to ensure the stability of power generation system.The control system has applied well in the marine experiment at Zhaitang island of Jiaonan City in December,2008 and the feasibility and correctness of the design scheme in the control system are proved. Finally, Mature Grid-Connected wind power generating technology as a reference and combined with own characters of tidal current power generating, the paper analysis and propose that the control strategy of grid-connected in Brushless doubly-fed generation system...
