Nuclear energy as the main solution of energy source has been taken more attention. The design of half-speed turbo generator in nuclear power is particularly important. Localization of 1000MW grade half-speed turbo generator becomes the target of generator designers.A method for simulating the single machine rated operating state of turbo generator by imposing equivalent load impedance on each phase winding in Ansoft/Maxwell external circuit is proposed. The correctness of equivalent load impedance method is proved through the comparison between calculated value and designed value of generator parameters including phase voltage, current and power factor in case of a 1000MW level half-speed turbo generator prototype. The distribution of magnetic field, reactance parameter and excitation parameter in the condition of different rotor structure are obtained by using this method. The reason of changing has been given by analyzing the variation regularity of these parameters.The electromagnetic design formulas common used is (DZ)28-63. For the defect of not considering the effect of small slot and slot-offset this paper revise (DZ)28-63 by using Westinghouse Electric electromagnetic design formulas which including the formulas of rotor slot-offset magnetic potential for reference. Simultaneously improve the formulas of stator and rotor resistance and the length of rotor yoke magnetic path. The result calculated by using revised electromagnetic design formulas is more accurate.Ggeneral program is designed by using VB and Matlab mixed programming on the basis of revising (DZ)28-63 The program can be used in full-speed or half-speed turbo generator. Engineering Drawing can be obtained through the program calling AutoCAD and automatically complete finite element analysis by calling Ansoft/Maxwell. The program can improve the design efficiency and shorten the developing cycle of turbo generator.
