Due to increasingly serious environmental pollutions, the Geo-Environmental, one of the branch subjects of the Geotechnical Engineering, is developing rapidly and focusing on the effects of the pollutions on soil. The Surfactant is one of the dangerous contaminations of soil and can be seen everywhere, therefore, it is necessary to study the influence of surfactants on the mechanical and geotechnical characteristics of the loess, which is widely distributed in China. Basing on laboratory experiments, the aim of this paper is to investigate the geotechnical characteristics of the loess contaminated by surfactant, which includes the strength, permeability, compressibility and collapsible. This paper also presents an analysis of the impact of the contamination on engineering according to the data from experiments. What's more, the adsorption behavior on heavy metal Pb of Surfactant-loess and Surfactant-bentonite is researched. The main conclusions of this paper are summarized as follows:1) Sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate(SDBS) has been proved that the pollution can weaken the loess, reducing cohesion, compression strain and permeability, as well as limiting collapsibility. So does HDTMA-Br. Then we found the effect on the engineering problem is severely through the numerical simulation by GEO-Slope. We need to correct parameter of pollution-soil.2) Basing on the excellent adsorption on Pb(II) of loess and SDBS, the adsorption of SDBS-loess(SL) is studied by the Batch experiment. The results demonstrated that the adsorption of SL is similar crude loess. We can reuse the polluted SL to adsorb heavy metal.3) This paper is study the promoter action of SDBS on bentonite to adsorb Pb(II). But the results of test showed that SDBS contribute nothing to adsorb Pb(II). But it can change the best reaction temperature to adopt adsorption in the winter.4) By measuring the soil water characteristic curve and microstructure analysis test, the geotechnical characteristics change of loess due to surfactant can be explained.
