Nowadays, in our country the construction of infrastructure becomes faster. There are many disasters of natural landslide and the emergence of high-steep slope accident, which is a great challenge for engineering construction. From the development of high and steep slopes in domestic and international, the destruction for slope accident is very drastic. A lot of high and steep slopes harm the safety of engineering greatly, and even they could bring about enormous property loss of the country and the people's life. In order to reduce and prevent from various kinds of the emergence of rock slope accident, it is necessary to do the research of the slope stability analysis.The paper systemically details the theory and appraisement methods of the slope stability problem both at home and abroad. And it analyzes deeply destruction mechanism and the factors influencing the stability of slopes. It sets up the synthetic method for slope with traditional limit equilibrium slice methods and finite element method. There are some main contents and conclusions in the study as following.(1)The paper probes into the models of high-steep slope destruction. Then, it summarizes all kinds of appraisement methods in the slope stability analytical fields and comparison analysis each method.(2)On the basis of the limit equilibrium, it makes some improvement to the vertical slice method. According to reasonable assumptions, the method applies to the practical slope stability analysis better.(3)The paper reveals the constitutive relationship of soil and the stress model for slope. Through making the change with every criterion, it can use finite element method to do calculation and analysis.(4)Comprehending the respective merit of the limit equilibrium and finite element method, it sets up the appraisement system of synthetic method, which makes the slope's stress-strain combining with the safety reasonably.(5)Based on the elastoplastic constitutive relationship, it applies the finite element analysis software ANSYS to realize the synthetic method which used to appraise the safety in the slope stability analysis. From the deliberate analysis of the example, all the parameters to precision influence are analyzed fully. And it contrast to the result that is computed through FLAC program based on the theory of FDM(finite differences method). The computing result shows the presented method is applicable.
