Computer numerical simulation technology has becomes the most potential tool for casting process with the rapidly develop of computer technology in recent years. It has been Enter industrialized application stage in some respects. The computer numerical simulation technology can help casting engineers predict all sorts of defects and the distribution of effectively possible defects effectively. It has been becomes essential link for foundry industry development. The cylinder's shape, structure and internal cavity is very complex, which is the difficulty and key in whole engine production and the largest and most important castings in engine. Its casting craft level is the basic condition of engine quality. Therefore, make whole casting process clarity by combined the engine casting and numerical simulation software through the casting process simulation has a reference and guiding role to the actual production.This paper based on the structure of the cylinder block and characteristics of low pressure casting technological, using modeling software UG mapped gating system which is 3d model of cylinder body firstly. Then, using software Hypermesh established finite element mesh model. Using casting software called Procast to simulate the filling process of cylinder body at 25s,10s and 40s three compression speed. in and comparison of It is filling mould smoothly, produced no turbulence, defects such as gas and inclusions when the pressurized liquid alloy speed is 25s Through analysis to the filling process velocity field and temperature field. Secondly, designed orthogonal experimental for three factors:mould temperature, pouring temperature, pressure speeds which is Influence cylinder body solidification shrinkage defect. Finally, to numerical simulation designed orthogonal experiment and established experimental results objective function. It is concluded that main factor influence shrinkages defect in cylinder body process parameters is the temperature of mould by analysis the range and Equation of the objective function.This paper using three-dimensional modeling technology, computer simulation technology and experimental design method mapped the cylinder body 3d model when the low pressure casting gating system used. By using the computer simulation technology and the orthogonal experiment method to optimist process parameters so as to predict and reduce various defects in the process of foundry, improve quality castings, reduce scrap rate, reduce engine cylinder production costs, shorten the product development cycle and provides valuable reference for similar castings and further research.
