Variable speed pitches wind turbine is the mainstream models from the wind power industry, the development process point of view. Large-scale wind turbines proposed a concept named load reduced control, aimed at enhancing the safety and operating life of wind turbine.In this paper,3MW variable speed pitches wind turbine is studied, whose mathematical model is built in MATLAB. And then, collective pitches systems and individual pitches systems for pitches wind condition are designed respectively. Also, the feasibility and effectiveness of those control systems are verified by simulation.Firstly, mathematical models for various units of wind turbine are built after analyzing the aerodynamic theory. The open-loop simulation shows that output power and wind speed fluctuation is directly affected by the environmental wind speed, the effective wind speed and wind utilization are so small that wind turbine close-loop control is needed.Secondly, control systems are designed based on the collective pitch control goals that limiting output power under high wind speed and improving wind energy utilization. the conventional two-dimensional pitch controller and high precision three dimensional fuzzy pitch controller are proposed, and the simulation implies the later one is better in steady-state accuracy and response speed.Again, independent pitch control systems, based on single neuron PID-weight coefficient distribution and RBF-PID-weight coefficient distribution, are designed for reducing the aerodynamic loads or aerodynamic forces. In comparison, individual pitches systems play better roles in load reduced control than collective pitches systems, and the RBF-PID-weight coefficient distribution is the best strategy of the control systems designed in this paper.Finally, the control systems designed in this paper lack experimental and engineering verifications, pending further research.
