In recent decades, oil pipelines took a very important role in the transportation of oil and gas for its unique advantages. It could be regarded that the oil and gas transported by the pipelines are the key branches of the economy of every country. Since more than pipe service life, corrosion, wear and damage by human and other reasons, pipeline leakage become more and more and people's life, property and living environment are threatened with it. With regards to this, many countries have introduced laws and regulations against pipeline safety violations investigated, the flaw which appears in the pipeline, needs to be examined the pipeline promptly to avoid huge economic losses.This article makes a deep research of remote field eddy current testing of pipeline technology and designs a remote field eddy current nondestructive testing system. Using ANSYS simulation to the distribution of magnetic field lines, and calculate the sensor parameters.Detection system consists of sensors, signal source, power amplifier, signal conditioning circuits, data acquisition card and computer and other components. Through the design of the sensor probe to detect the signal processing design, the initial completion of remote field eddy current signal conditioning, the use of Labview virtual instrument software programming, the remote field eddy current signal amplitude and phase detection, calculating the depth of defect by phase, and alarm when the defect depth exceeds the threshold.The analysis of experimental data show that remote field eddy current testing method can detect the depth of the crack pipe wall appears as 0.5mm, lmm,1.5mm defects. Qualitative measurements can detect defects in thin ferromagnetic tubes, that proves the correctness and effectiveness of the design, Therefore, this method has broad application prospects.
