For one important part of the water diversion project, the water quality is the direct determinant that affects whether the project could finally ease the water shortage crisis in north China. Danjiangkou Reservoir is the headstream of one segment of the project route, which covers the region between the north and the south of China. Xichuan County is a part of Danjiangkou Reservoir geographically; so the Hydrological Processes of Xichuan, to some extent, represents the main characters of Danjingkou Reservoir in Henan province.Hydrological model is one of the important methods and means in hydrological research. Under the support of ArcSWAT model and GIS, and in accordance with current data in the study area, this paper adopts various means, such as mathematical statistics, GIS, and remote sensing, to calculate and extract parameters that needed by the model. Including the calculation of soil particle size change and meteorological data pre-processing, it emphases on building soil type database and meteorological database of Danjiangkou Reservoir in Xichuan County; meanwhile, it relates land use classification to SWAT land use types, parameterizing the DEM. Therefore, it achieves the parameterized process of ArcSWAT data model that required.With SWAT model, it simulates large catchment area of Danjiangkou, Xichuan County. The application of grid-based DEM of the watershed hydrological modeling methods is used to study the division of sub-catchment areas, and it evaluates the applicability of surface runoff and rainfall from 2002 to 2007 simulation; the simulation results show that the parameters are reasonable, which can reflect the runoff and rainfall in the study area. SWAT model simulation requires high accuracy in the region, which is quite proper in Danjiangkou.In the SWAT model,10-year simulation of watershed processes is carried out with the time span from 2001 to 2010, which analyzes soil erosion of Danjiangkou Reservoir basin over 10 years, and with the simulation results, the main objectives in 2010 are forecast.
