With the rapid development of the society, culture, economy and more market-oriented of the product, the synthesis of User-centered design has been focused on by more and more researchers. During this study, using the experience between Chinese and western countries, about theory of the developmental differences and imagery system for reference, it is summarized the concept of product image, analyzed the application of product image in emotional design. The paper put forward an emotional system of interrelation between product image and emotional symbols.In this study, depending on the functional, aesthetic, material, colorific, affective, comprehended requirements of consumers, the construction of emotional design based on product image is presented. On the base of the study about category classification of Kansei engineering, a new construction of emotional design will have come out, through integrating construction of emotional design based on product image and category classification of Kansei engineering properly.Finally, taking the design of intelligent mobile telephone for example, the paper set forth its position on how to use the construction of emotional design to design. It is more clearly illustrates that this kind of construction based on product image plays an important role in the field of emotional design. There is no doubt that it can help designers to do more variety of product design in more and widely fields.
