Along with the rapid growth of road transport demand, the class and number of vehicles increased dramatically. Motivated by profit, some transportation units or individuals drive vehicles overloaded on the road especially by lengthening and widening vehicles, which makes the life of transportation infrastructure greatly shortened, meantime traffic accidents caused by overload transport is also increasing, causing huge economic losses to our country. This paper first analyzes the existing overload phenomenon n the domestic road transport and the treatment and research status of overload phenomenon in domestic provinces; then it introduces the principle of the vehicle information acquisition system for vehicle detection loop coil and the system development key technologies. The detection system realizes data acquisition, receiving, storage roads vehicles in the process of electromagnetic induction of road vehicles; in data processing, data are first filtered noising and normalization, discusses the impact on the vehicles data collection by the speed of the vehicles, constructs a typical sample information system, puts forward its feature set of attributes according to waveform characteristics of vehicles, attribute reduction is carried out combined with rough set theory, comes up with vehicle automatic classification algorithm by calculating the discernibility matrix, non-coordinated decision tables and decision matrix of rules, and applies the vehicle classification algorithm into the simulation study and implementation of programs, compiles the corresponding software, verifies the validity of the method by experiments. In vehicle weighing system, it automatically dectectes overloaded vehicles successfully within certain limits combined with the general link between common vehicle classs and load.
