Improvement Researching On Control And Protection System Of Xingren-Bao'an HVDC Transmission System

With the complex connection, the changeful operation mode and the complicated control process in HVDC transmission system, some defects or weak links of its control and protection system has exposed widely after years of operation.Today HVDC transmission projects are gaining strong growth momentum tmomentum. Researching and summing up an improvement to the control and protection system of Xingren-Bao'an HVDC Transmission System is valuable to HVDC operation, maintenance and designment in the future.This paper introduces the structures, function and operation characteristics of GG II HVDC transmission system—XingrenBao'an HVDC transmission system. It picks up improvements from operation experience, finds the weak links form the comparative study with the other HVDC transmission systems and digs out the latent problems from the data of project for doing something to reduce the control and protection system trips by error and raise the reliability of HVDC. It takes the control and protection system as the research object, summarizes and analyzes the problems and weak links which has exposed as problems, and comes up with the optimized measures. The researching objects include AC station control system, DC station control system, pole control system, valve cooling control system, DC protection system and DC filter protection system. Some optimized measures have exercised a great influence.
