Transmission line is the lifeline of the power system, which bears the important task of transmit power. It can improve the system stability, increase the transmission capacity of transmission lines and reduce network losses to install series compensa-tion capacitor on long-distance EHV lines. Series compensation capacitors are more and more widely used in EHV lines. As the distance transmission lines are generally long, and it is susceptible to complex terrain and weather conditions, Transmission line is part prone to failure in the power system. It is very important to find the fault points quickly and accurately. It has a very important role for repairing transmission lines in time and ensure reliability of electricity supply. It is currently a hot topic how to precisely locate the fault series compensated transmission lines. This paper studied with the characteristics of the transmission line with a series capacitor compensation, analyzed the difficulties of fault location because of the presence of series capacitor compensation. On this basis, proposes a distributed parameter model based on Bergeron's fault location algorithm for series compensated capacitor installed in the middle of the line, dual-side synchronous sampling data, fault location calculation method, and distance according to the comparison ends the size of the results to determine fault error occurred in which side of series capacitor compensation. Fault location algorithm based on the design of the fault location system, and using Matlab's Simulink simulation tool on the computer numerical simulation algorithm. The simulation results show that the algorithm is accurate and reliable distance measurement.
