The clay core rockfill dam is a type of economy, because the dam with simple construction, low cost, construction speed is quick, especially in poorer geological conditions, so it is widely used in water conservancy and hydropower construction. Stress and strain of clay core rockfill dam is analyzed with plain strain finite element method for seismic stability analysis is of far-reaching significance in hydraulic engineeringStress and strain condition and stability d the clay core rockfill dam of laojunshan is simulated and analyze during filling and in normal operation period and when suffering earthquake, A non-linear elastic E-B model proposed by Duncan chang is used to model the material stress-strain ralationship of the clay core, rock-fill dam filter, The course of construction and impoundment was simulated by increasing elements step by step, Results shows that the management of construction must be strengthened to ensure the safety of the dam. Results Show that:Because of the excess pore water pressure, the vertical displacement of the dam is lower than that before earthquake. Using the limit equilibrium method to calculate the coefficient of safety with effective stress method is more conservative than that using the finite element, another calculation results show that the rockfill dam is stable and reliable.
