With the rapid development of cities, more and more residential neighborhood grow up,the outdoor environment of the residential area is an important part of the environment related to people's daily life, and in all kinds of the residential environments the most closely to people's life is the thermal environment, and comfortable outdoor thermal environment is directly related to people's health, therefore it is very important that the outdoor thermal environment in residence is good. People's living standard is constantly improved, and the quality of people's living conditions is put into higher requirements, menawhile the urban residents long for living harmoniously with the natural environment, consequently the emergence of water-shore residences is in line with this requirement. Water system not only make people enjoy the beauty, but also has important ecological value, because the temperature and humidity in the residence can be adjusted, and the micro-climate be improved by water, so the residence is comfortable for living.Based on simulation software Airpak, a mathematical model of a residential neighborhood in Shenyang was built, and a series of results, such as temperature, relative humidity(RH),Predicted Mean Vote and Predicted Percent Dissatisfied (PMV-PPD)were obtained and analyzed. The thermal environment with and without water system in the residential neighborhood were simulated, and the results of temperature, relative humidity and PMV-PPD were obtained. The simulation results showed that in the presence of the water system within residential neighborhood the average temperature reduced, the relative humidity increased, correspondingly the value of PPD-PMV decreased. All the simulation results illustrated that the impact of the water system on thermal environment in the residential neighborhood should not be ignored. The thermal environment that when the water system located in the southeast, south and west in the residential neighborhood were simulated, and the results of temperature, relative humidity and PMV-PPD were obtained. The simulation results showed that the thermal environment was different when the water system at different positions. When the water system located in the south, the temperature of the residential neighborhood was the lowest, relative humidity was the highest, and correspondingly the PMV-PPD was the lowest. The thermal environment that the area of the water system was original and six times of the original area were simulated when the water system was in the south of the residential neighborhood, and the results of temperature, relative humidity and PMV-PPD were obtained. The simulation results showed that the thermal environment was different with different areas of the water system. When the area of water system was six times of the original area, that was the water area was 20 percents of the whole area of the residential neighborhood, most people were satisfied with the thermal environment, and it was the most comfortable state. There were often changes in wind direction,so the thermal environment when the water system located in the southeast, south and west in the residential neighborhood while the wind direction were east, southeast, south, southwest, west and northwest were simulated. The simulation results showed that the thermal environment was most comfortable when the water system located in the windward side, and the comfortable range is about 100m.The wind speed always changed too, so the thermal environment with the wind speed 0m/s, 0.5m/s, 1m/s, 1.5m/s, 2m/s, 2.5m/s, 3m/s, 3.5m/s, 4m/s, 4.5m/s, 5m/s, 5.5m/s, 6m/s, 6.5m/s and 7m/s when water system located in the south were simulated. The simulation results showed that the value of PMV-PPD was the lowest when wind speed was from 4.5m/s to 6m/s, and most people feeled comfortable; with other wind speeds, people were more comfortable when neared to the water system.
