The design and development of wind turbine has obtained very fruitful results with the great development wind power in China.At present, The MW class and less wind power generation technology has been basically mastered, more than other large MW wind turbine is still in development stage. With the larges cale wind turbine, the design demanding of its key components are higher and higher. Tower is an important support component.The static,dynamic characteristics and fatigue damage of its structure as well as the strength of bolted flange connection have a great influence on the working life of the wind turbine. In order to ensure the safety, smooth and reliable operation of wind turbines, the reasonable structure and performance stable of the tower is significant importance.According to the latest research achievement from home and abroad,using the structural statics,dynamics, theory of strength, nonlinear contact theory,as well as the theory of linear cumulative damage etc.,Based on thewind turbine specifications, the statics,dynamics and fatigue life analysis of the 2MW wind turbine tower are done.The fruits of the research provide a reference for the design of large wind turbines,which has some value for engineering.The following works are done in this paper:(1) Using finite element analysis method, the FEA model of the tower is established.The static strength analysis of the tower is done at six different load conditions.The maximum stress intensity and displacement of the tower are obtained, and the stress strength is checked.(2) The dangerous cross-section of the tower connected by flange bolts is determined by theoretical calculation. The contact finite element analysis is donducted on the flange bolts on the dangerous section. The maximum stress value of the bolt and flange is obtained, compared with the value of theoretical calculation, the results are very close.(3) In order to avoid natural frequency of the tower coupled vibrate with the rotation frequency of the impeller, the modal analysis is done,The low natural frequencies and mode shapes are obtained. The comparation and analysis are done between the natural frequencies and the impeller rotating frequency.(4) The fatigue damage and life of the tower are checked using the fatigue analysis software msc.fatigue.verifying whether its life could achieve the expected design life.
