Diesel engine with its advantages, included dynamic, economy, durability and a wide power range, etc. is widely used in various power plants. It is one of the main irreplaceable power plants in the world. Meantime, Particulate matters (PM) emitted from diesel engines has become a major source of air pollution. Increasing awareness of environmental protection promotes people to be more and more stringent on vehicle emissions. Under the circumstances, improving the structure and emitting technology only cannot meet emission standards. Then, the after-treatment technology has become the necessary solution to diesel emissions.Diesel particles emission control is an important and challenging issue in the current development of diesel engines while diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration is the key point of research and application in this area.This article describes the current development of diesel engine, focusing on the formation mechanism and control technology of particulate matters (PM). The trapping properties of materials and regeneration technology are the key technology of DPF. It introduces the purification mechanism, filter materials and designation requirements, and compares the advantages and disadvantages of trapping properties of various filter materials. Seven DPF regeneration technologies are presented according to trapping properties of materials.This paper describes the structure of DPF and its development, including continuous regenerative DPF structure, mobile mandatory renewable DPF structure, the fixed-renewable electric heating DPF structure, and cleaning heating regenerative DPF structure. It also introduces the design of safety system. As the design process of the DPF cleaning heating regeneration system, selection of DPF regeneration system components and the main control circuit is illustrated, and the design of DPF cleaning heating regeneration device, too. Besides, the work process is introduced.Finally, on the basis of the experiment, comparing with the structure and regeneration of DPF in the laboratory before, the conclusions are drawn as follows:1) The original DPF structure is improved, and the designation of DPF safety system is proposed.2) Selection of components, the DPF cleaning heating regeneration devices and its work process are introduced.3) Comparison of the economy of LPG burning regeneration device with devices before is made, indicating that LPG cleaning device is a clean efficient energy-saving regeneration method.
