It's unrealistic to study characteristics of power system by testing in the actual system frequently because of its particularity and importance. Every aspect of power system plan, analysis and operation depends on simulation. The accuracy of load model and its parameters affects the reliability of simulation directly. Building load model with practical is imminent. Up to now, most of the measurement-based load modeling methods using fundamental positive sequence component may affect modeling accuracy and reduce the numbers of useful data. To solve this problem, the paper deals with load modeling method via instantaneous data. Measured data can be directly used in load modeling via instantaneous data after filtration, which enlarges the scope of data available and makes the load model accuracy. The paper introduces the principle of load modeling via instantaneous measurements and then presents five key steps in modeling procedure. Based on above analysis, we build up a load modeling software platform based on instantaneous measurements in Visual Studio 6.0 and complete application test of this platform using simulation data of one actual power system from real time digital simulation system. Finally, the verification method is used in load model verification for the first time and this method is completed using composite load model. Two examples show load model validation and high practical value of the verification method.
