As railway system begins to develop in the direction of high-speed and heavy-carrying, the technology of automatic passing neutral section becomes more and more important. At present, many systems of automatic passing neutral section have different problems, just as low switching life, high over voltage when switches cut over, low reliability and so on.This dissertation introduces a new method of locomotive automatic passing neutral section which is named Electronic switch Passing Neutral section (EPN).EPN uses new technology of sensor to detect the location of locomotive. When the locomotive passing the neutral section, current in the contact net of tractive power supply system will change, according to this characteristic and the principle of power transformer, a new type of sensor has been designed and it can detect the position of locomotive accurately. Meanwhile, through the research and simulation of the ferromagnetic materials, the dissertation shows how to design and manufacture the iron core of sensor. Then, the dissertation discusses how to use electronic switch replacing vacuum switch to achieve cutting-over different voltages between each electric phase separation. And then, according to the environment of electric phase separations, the type and numbers of SCR are determined, the radiating problem is also discussed in the paper.System scheme of EPN is also introduced in the dissertation, which exhaustively discussing the situation of different sensors and different types of locomotives automatic passing neutral section. At last, through field test of EPN, test and verify the accuracy of location sensor and debug the conformity between controller and electric switch.
