This paper discusses the problem that how to process the signal of active safety system which is based on millimeter-wave radar system. At first, analysis the relative radar principle and use the matched filter theory, radar Ambiguity function and frequency spectrum to analysis the waveform. In the rest part of this paper, the model of radar waveform, mixer, low-pass filter and target is constructed. In the end, designs the GUI interface to regulate the parameter and simulate the algorithm.The focus of this paper is the distance information algorithm of radar system and the distance information. DFT algorithm and Kalman filter algorithm is used in this paper, meanwhile different target model is used in different working condition. This paper design the motivation parameter to divide the motive level of the target automobile. At last, according to the result of simulation, a conclusion can be drawn that when different model is used in related working condition, more precise estimation value can be got. In this paper, working condition of automobile is divided into two kinds: low-motility and high-motility. Low-motility represents working condition on high-way and high-motility represents working condition in city. CV model and Singer model is used in these two working conditions. According to the comparison of the variance, a conclusion can be drawn that motivation parameter can discriminate different working condition and the simulation result can be optimized by using different target model.In the calculation of velocity, this paper use regression analysis method rather than the traditional Doppler shift method. According to the result of simulation, this method is more simple and satisfy the precision requirement.As a result, this paper got a multi-model algorithm and resolve the problem that single motivation target model can not adapt to complicated working condition of automobile. Meanwhile, regression analysis is an effective algorithm in estimating the target velocity.
