The Development And Application Of Multi-functional Communication Converter Based On AT90CAN128

Data communication is necessary in modern industrial equipment, building automation system and work site debugging system. And communication between computers and them is also needed. However, different kinds of equipment usually have different communication interface. So a communication converter is necessary. Communication converters on sell now always have only one kind of conversion mode and are not cost-effective.Comprehensively considering the hardware configuration, cost, reliability and the developing technology mastered by the author, a multifunctional communication converter was designed and developed in this paper. It realizes 5 kinds of conversion listed below:CAN/RS232, CAN/RS485, CAN/USB, RS232/RS485 and RS232/USB.In this paper, hardware circuit composition and each functional part of the multifunctional communicaiton converter was described in detail. Software code was written on the AVR Studio plus GCC developing platform. And the code detail was introduced as several functional parts. After finishing hardware and software development, the communication converter was applied in three sorts of system, including PWM rectifier debugging system, photovoltaic inverter monitor and control system and multi-nodes communication test system. Supporting software for both upper machine and lower machine was developed to realise different funtion for each system. Test results show good performance of the multifunctional communication conveter, validating the design of the hardware circuit and the realisation of the software programming. The desired debugging function, monitor and control function and test function are also realized, which verifies the correctness of the supporting software for both upper machine and lower machine, and shows practicality of the multifunctional communication converter.
