In single or multi-phase flows, there is an urgent need for techniques to diagnose and measure the particle filed, especially the velocity and three-dimensional positions of particles. For the reasons of large number density, complex distribution and small dimension of particles, there's still some difficulties to accurate measure these parameters. Digital holography is a powerful tool in 3D diagnostics of two-phase flow. In order to obtain the spatial distribution and velocity of two-phase flow, Digital Holography Particle Image Velocity (DHPIV) is studied. The paper carried out a simulation experiment. The recorded particle hologram was reconstructed by using fast Fourier transform and wavelet transform algorithm. The 3-D vector-particle size distribution and spatial distribution results in the simulation were achieved. The method is experimentally tested in the micro flowing in the channels of micro fluid chip. The velocity field obtained by the method is calibrated by the normal particle image velocity. Experimental results verify the feasibility and reliability of the method. In addition, the measurements are taken non-intrusively and rapidly that makes on-line analysis possible.
