Vehicle lighting is the important measure to achieve energy saving and environmental protecting, using aluminum alloy is an important way for lightweight automobile.6000 series aluminum alloy is used for automotive body, it has advantages of good formability, high bake-hardening properties, excellent corrosion resistance and becomes research focus in recent years.This paper based on AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet, the influence of pre-deformation, baking temperature and holding time on bake-hardening properties, fracture toughness and other mechanical properties of AA6016 aluminum alloy are investigated by lots of analysis and detection methods such as electronic universal testing machine, Kahn tear test machine, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), DSC, optical microscopy et. Finally, the best aging treatment system is obtained. Research dent resistance of AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet by dent resistance test and related simulation software to apply the relevant exploration analysis for 6000 series aluminum used for car body.The results of study show that:(1) Baking temperature and Pre-deformation are the main factors influencing BH value of AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet, appropriate adjustment of process parameters is very important to play to its bake-hardening property. AA6016 aluminum alloy body panels are used in the underaged state, and its BH value is related with the nucleation rate and number of metastable phase precipitatesβ".(2) For AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet, the BH value and fracture toughness KIChave the opposite trend, and the BH value and percentage elongation have the same trend as the temperature changes.(3) Considering the BH value and fracture toughness, the best baking system of AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet should be 3%pre-deformation,170-180℃,20-30min, and in this state it has the maximum BH value and maintain a high fracture toughness.(4) The dent resistance testing device can effectively assess the dent resistance of auto body sheet with simple and reproducible operation. The dent resistance of AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet is significantly improved after bake-hardening. Increasing yield strength of Aluminum alloy sheet will increase its dent resistance, and pre-deformation can influence dent resistance by strain hardening effect and changing the thickness (5) AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet used for car door panel, the design requirements for dent resistance can be met by increasing the thickness of sheet metal and some optimization methods Under the premise of meeting the stiffness, impact strength design requirements and related regulations, AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet can be widely used for vehicle door panels instead of traditional steel, reduce its weight more than 40%and achieve the lightweight purpose.In this paper, bake-hardening properties and dent resistance of AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet is studied systematically. The results has a positive role in promoting aluminum alloy used for car body panels.
