Integrated monitoring system of high-voltage power transmission grid uses advanced sensor technology in real-time monitoring of transmission line, towers and other equipments'running status and environmental conditions, collects the status information and transmit to the monitoring center through the wireless monitoring network which established by the high-voltage transmission grid monitoring system. The monitoring center is in charge of data analysis and mining, to strengthen the analysis, diagnosis and optimization of real-time, dynamic status information. The system can realize online monitoring of power transmission grid. The monitoring system transmits data collected in power transmission grid using the way of combining RF and wired fiber optic cable. Relative to hire the public network such as mobile communication networks and simply use the wireless sensor network, it is more stable, less hops, less delay and low cost. However, due to the restriction of transmission line and tower, the wireless monitoring network of system is faced with transmission interference, limited power supply and lack of security mechanism, etc. At the same time, the topology feature of this wireless monitoring network is linear architecture. The routing path is single, load imbalance and lacking reliability mechanism. So the suitable transmission protocol for the wireless monitoring network is very necessary.Based on the distribution of transmission line and tower, a networking strategy of power transmission grid monitoring system has been proposed. According to the feature of linear topology and system requirement, the linear network has been divided into many segments, the sink node are placed at both ends of every segment to shorten the data transmission distance and alleviate the"hot zone"problem. Also, load balance mechanism PBSLB and reliability mechanism LP-SPIN have been proposed to solve the load imbalance and poor reliability, a routing protocol LBRR with the two mechanisms has been designed to ensure the load balance and high reliability of the communication among sub monitoring networks which formed with the tower as a unit. With ns2, the routing protocol has been realized and compared with some others. The results show that, this protocol is able to improve the load balance of each node and ensure the high reliability of data transmission, and it can fulfill the data transmission demand of transmission grid monitoring system.
