Earthquake is a sudden natural disaster, which widely distributes in the worldwide. In recent years, earthquake occurred frequently and caused great damage and casualties in Seismic areas. And isolation structure showed nice seismic performances in the earthquakes, and was widely concerned. As a kind of effective and economic seismic method, it has been applied more widely.The system that the laminated rubber bearings are often mounted on the top of RC column of the basement is called by series seismic isolation system in the isolation builds. Many researchers have studied on a lot of theoretical analysis and experimental research of the laminated rubber bearings at home and abroad, but the theoretical analysis and experimental research of series seismic isolation system is very rare, the paper mainly aims at nonlinear analysis of the system's mechanical properties. The RC column of the basement affects the mechanice and deformation of the laminated rubber bearing.The paper mainly analyzed the nonlinear mechanical properties of series seismic isolation system. The main research content of this article is as followed:(1) This paper introduces the basic principle, development, research and application of seismic-isolation technology in practical projects, states the process of this topic, research situation and the significance of this topic, and introduces the theoretical and experimental research of the laminated rubber bear and series seismic isolation system.(2) the paper theoretically analyzed the series seismic isolation system in the large deformation considering the second-order effect of shear and bending. the results indicates that second-order effect of the series isolation system is obvious significantly, and not be ignored;(3) The nonlinear mechanical properties of series seismic isolation system are studied by static method using the universal finite element software ANSYS, mainly consider ting the effect of the geometrical nonlinearity and material nonlinearity for series seismic isolation system, compared the mechanics properties of series seismic isolation system under several different factors, the results showed the basement cantilever column has an adverse effect stability and strength on series seismic isolation system;(4) The models of series seismic isolation and universal seismic isolation are analyzed by the time history analysis method using the finite element software Marc. comparing the dynamic responses of the two models, the results show that the change of the displacement and acceleration history curves is approximately same.
